Mian captures bronze at World University Wrestling Championships
ITALY - Brock University women's wrestler Jasmine Mian (Barrie, Ont.) captured a bronze medal at the 2010 World University Wrestling Championships.
Mian, who was competing at 48kg, lost a close three rounder against the eventual world university champion, Akeo Minori from Japan 2-0, 2-6, 4-0. She then defeated N. Denehsukh of Mongolia 1-0, 2-4, 2-1 and won the bronze medal match over Sezer Surmeyya of Turkey 1-0, 2-1.
"This is a significant accomplishment for Jasmine and The Brock Wrestling program," said Brock head coach Marty Calder. "She is a credit to our University in so many ways, as a great student-athlete and community leader."
Mian, the Badgers MVP in 2009-10, made her first national team in eleventh grade and has competed at numerous international competitions including the Junior World and Pan American Championships.
Jasmine is entering her fourth year of study at Brock University majoring in psychology. She currently works as a research assistant at Brock University’s Infant and Child Development lab where she studies the developmental trajectory of face perception.
