Brock wrestlers capture four medals at Western Invitational
LONDON, Ont.- The Brock University men's and women's wrestling
teams captured four medals this past weekend at the Western
Invitational including one gold and three silver.
Leading the way for the Brock women was the trio of Jade Parsons
(51kg) (Barrie, Ont.), Diana Ford (55kg) (Kentville, NS) and
Natasha Chang 59kg (Cayuga, Ont.) who all placed second in their
respective weight classes. Placing fourth overall were Lee Anna
Taillefer (82kg) (Sudbury, Ont.), Laura Steffler (67kg) (Whitby,
Ont.) and Deb Jehu (63kg) (Greenbank, Ont.). Steph Riopel (51kg)
(Timmins, Ont.), Alexis Kilroy (63kg) (St. Catharines, Ont.) and
Rebecca Levitt (67kg) (Toronto, Ont.) all placed 5th overall.
For the men, Aaron Fabiano (Windsor, Ont.) posted a perfect 3-0
record this past weekend at the Western Invitational capturing gold
at 54kg. In the championship match he defeated Jason Wass from the
Alberta Golden Bears.
Ben Rowbottom (Barrie, Ont.) placed fourth overall at 67kg while
Tim Clement (Barrie, Ont.) was 6th at 57kg.
At 130kg, Brock's Mike Neufeld defeated teammate Steve Snijders in
the gold medal match. Also placing first was Brock Club wrestler
Jake Needham at 61kg.
