Women's Wrestling places second at Ontario Junior Championships

SUDBURY, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's wrestling team had a strong overall performance at the 2010 Ontario Junior Championships this past weekend. The women's team placed second overall and the men were fourth.

At 51kg, Steph Riopel captured gold posting a perfect 4-0 record, including a win over teammate Jade Parsons, who was a silver medallist at last year's National Junior Championships. Parsons finished second overall. Marissa Sorell finished first in the 67kg category defeating Rebecca Levitt in the final.

Alexis Kilroy finished third at 63kg with a 4-1 record while teammate Natasha Chang finished 4th at 59kg.

On the men's side, Jake Hergenhein wrestled up a weight class but still finished first at 60kg winning four consecutive matches. Eric Slute finished with the bronze medal at 96kg while Michio Clark (50kg), Trevor Bentz (74kg) and Brendan Scott (66kg) all finished fifth overall in their respective weight classes.
