Brock Women's Volleyball Head Coach Job Posting

POSITION: BROCK WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH

STATUS: HONOURARIUM

REPORTS TO:  DIRECTOR, ATHLETICS

DEPT/DIVISION: ATHLETICS

DATE: JULY 21, 2011

DEADLINE: JULY 29, 2011

PURPOSE/ACCOUNTABILITY:   

To develop and manage a quality women's volleyball program.  To develop and execute fundraising initiatives required to operate the program. ____________________________________________________

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Women's Volleyball Coach. Develops and manages a high quality women's volleyball program including:

Establishing competitive game and practice schedules.

Developing a plan for recruitment of potential student athletes.

Promoting the team and University through positive public relations with the University, alumni, media, community, high schools and sport governing bodies.

Selecting student athletes for the women's volleyball team.

Improving the skill level of the athletes.

Supervising the assistant coaches.

Maintaining team records and statistics.

Ordering team equipment as needed.

Serving as liaison with the women's volleyball alumni.

Attending coaches meetings held by the OUA and CIS.

Performing other related duties.

Coordinate summer volleyball camp

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:   

Supervision of assistant coaches and athletes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING:

A university degree or college diploma and several years of experience coaching women's volleyball.

Completion of several levels of Coaching certification (conducted by the Coaching Association of Canada).  Attending coaching clinics, seminars and workshops a definite asset.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate student athletes to their fullest potential.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and work independently.

The ability to instruct student athletes on the technical skills of volleyball and to develop a training and practice schedule for high quality athletes.

Knowledge and compliance of department policies

Knowledge and compliance with OUA and CIS rules, regulations and policies.

This position requires excellent organizational skills and human relations skills in order to develop and manage a quality women's volleyball program.
