Women's Volleyball defeats Lancers in five
WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (3-3 OUA) improved to .500 on the season as they defeated the Windsor Lancers in five games 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-13, 15-8) on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Badgers used a balanced offense led by senior Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) who recorded 14 kills, nine digs and 3.5 blocks. Senior Katelyn Giesbrecht (Virgil, Ont.) added 12 kills with a .474 hitting percentage while freshman Tori Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) contributed with nine kills with a .400 hitting percentage.
Junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) and senior Heather Potts (Nepean, Ont.) both chipped in with eight kills each. Anderson also registered a career high five service aces while Potts collected two aces and 3.5 blocks. Junior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) finished with 46 assists and eight digs in the victory.
The Badgers next action is Sunday afternoon on the road when they take on the Western Mustangs.
