Women's Volleyball drops third straight 5 match set

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (1-3 OUA West) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Wednesday night. All three losses this season have gone to five matches.

Leading the Badgers offense was senior Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) and junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.). Mercer recorded 14 kills and 18 digs for the double-double. Anderson also registered a double-double contributing with 14 kills and 17 digs. Junior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) , who was named the Badgers Player of the Match, added 31 assists and a season high 25 digs in the loss.

Laurier had four players register 10 or more kills led by Tesca Andrew-Wasylik who recorded a match high 17 kills. She also collected 17 digs for the double-double. Julie Gordon (12 kills), Kaitlin Sauder (12 kills, 17 digs) and Megan Gilmour (10 kiills) rounded out the Golden Hawks leaders. 

Despite taking it to five games, the Badgers offense continued to struggle hitting a minimal .134 with  41 kills, 19 errors on 164 attempts. Laurier hit .216 for the match with 67 kills, 23 errors on 204 attempts.
