Mercer leads Badgers past Guelph 3-1
GUELPH, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (8-5
OUA) captured their third straight victory as they defeated the
Guelph Gryphons 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24) Friday night on
the road.
This was the first time in his Brock career that head coach Lucas
Hodgson swept the season series versus the Gryphons.
Brock senior Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) reached a career
milestone tonight as she recorded her 500th career kill. She led
the Badgers offense registering 15 kills and 19 digs for her 11th
double-double of the season.
Senior Katelyn Geisbrecht (Virgil, Ont.) and freshman Tori
Stirling (Whitby, Ont.) contributed with eight kills each while
junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) added six kills and 13
digs. Sophomore Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) was a force in the
middle adding a season high five block solos.
Leading the Guelph offense was Kylen Van Osch who recorded a match
high 18 kills. Brooke Lloyd (12 kills, 13 digs) and Claire Sandor
(11 kills, 19 digs) both finished with double-doubles in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Sunday, January 17th when they host the Windsor Lancers at 2pm.
