Women's Volleyball sweeps Western 3-0

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's volleyball team (7-5 OUA West) made a statement Sunday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium as they swept the Western Mustangs 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20). This was Lucas Hodgson's first career victory against the OUA West divisional rival Mustangs.

Senior Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) led the Badgers offense registering 10 kills and 10 digs for the double-double. Senior Katelyn Geisbrecht (Virgil, Ont.) and junior Shannon Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) contributed with eight kills each while sophomore Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) added six kills on 10 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) finished with her 10th double-double of the season adding 34 assists and 11 digs. With her 11 digs, Fast becomes the first Brock setter to register 1500 assists and 500 digs in a career.

The Badgers next action is Friday, January 15th when they travel to Guelph to take on the Gryphons. Both teams are tied with seven victories each with the Gryphons having two games in hand.
