Women's Soccer drops 2-1 decision to Laurier in OUA West Semi-Finals

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Brock University women's soccer team (7-4-3 OUA, 1-1 playoffs) had their season come to an end Saturday as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the No. 10 ranked Laurier Golden Hawks in the OUA West Semi-Finals on the road.

Laurier opened the scoring nine minutes into the contest as Ali McKee recorded her team leading 10th goal of the season and first of the post-season.

The Badgers got on the scoreboard late in the first half off of a free kick. The shot bounced off of Hawk netminder Tristin Vogel and Alex Esposito (Mississauga, Ont.) scored to tie up the game.

Ten minutes into the second half (55:00) the Golden Hawks would score the eventual game winner as McKee crossed it to Heather Malizia who would beat Brock netminder Syreeta Rhoden (Niagara Falls, Ont.).

The Badgers end the 2009 season with eight total victories and tie the Brock single regular season record with seven.  

The Final Four teams battling for the OUA Championship in 2009 are York, Laurier, Ottawa and Queen's.
