Women's Soccer blanks Lancers 4-0

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's soccer team (6-3-2 OUA) shutout the Windsor Lancers by the score of 4-0 Sunday afternoon at home. With the victory the Badgers move into third place in the OUA West Division with two games remaining.

Brock came out flying in this contest as they opened the scoring just three minutes in when rookie Lindsay McDonald (Burlington, Ont.) added her third goal of the season beating Windsor netminder Danielle St. Germaine.

Sophomore Laura Tirone (Welland, Ont.) gave the Badgers a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute when she registered her third of the campaign.

In the 27th minute, senior Lisa D'Aguanno (Richmond Hill, Ont.) took a pass from sophomore Cassandre Van Bakel (Aurora, Ont.) and buried it behind St. Germaine for her third of the year.

Van Bakel would secure the victory in the 59th minute making no mistake on a penalty kick as she drilled a shot into the bottom left hand corner for her team leading fifth goal of the season.

In goal junior Syreeta Rhoden (Niagara Falls, Ont.) recorded three saves for her sixth victory and fifth shutout of the season.  With the shutout she moves into a tie for second all-time in Brock single season shutouts with former teammate Tiffany Scriver. Scriver also holds the record for most shutouts in a single season with nine. 

The Badgers end the regular season on the road next weekend when they take on Waterloo and Laurier.
