Badgers Ivanov resigns as women's soccer head coach
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Charles Ivanov, the head coach of the
Brock Badgers women's soccer program has resigned after five years
at the helm due to other work commitments.
In his five years with the Badgers Ivanov built one of the strongest soccer programs in the country. In five seasons, he posted a 32-15-19 (.629) regular season record including a school best seven victories three times. In his first season, Ivanov led the the Badgers to the OUA North/South regular season title while earning OUA Coach of the Year honours.
He led the Badgers to the post season five consecutive years, highlighted by the programs best finish in school history during the 2008 campaign where the Badgers finished with an overall record of 12-5-4 capturing the silver medal at the CIS National Championships in British Columbia. At the Nationals, Brock knocked off both the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the country.
During his five seasons, Ivanov had 15 student-athletes selected as OUA all-stars with two earning CIS All-Canadian honours. He also had two players selected as OUA Rookie of the Year, three earn CIS Championship all-star team selections and two named Brock Female Athlete of the Year.
"Charles will be missed by both the team and the department," said Director of Athletics Dr. Lorne Adams. "He has been an excellent coach/mentor for his athletes and the program has flourished under his guidance. He has developed not only elite athletes but also community leaders. He has been a valued colleague and friend. He has left a legacy of excellence that he can be proud of. I wish him only the best in his new role."
Brock University’s Athletic Department is in the process of searching for a women’s soccer coach. This is a part time position. Interested candidates should submit their resume to Dr. Lorne Adams by May 7, 2010.
