Getting to Know Your Badgers - Leigh Vanderveen

Throughout the spring and summer months we will catch up with many of the Badgers top returning athletes for the 2011-12 season as part of the Getting to Know Your Badgers.

Our latest student-athlete who we had the chance to ask a few questions to was Brock women's hockey player Leigh Vanderveen.

Why did you decide to come to Brock?

I decided to go to Brock because I like the small campus and community feeling and I was recruited to play on the women's hockey team. My favourite thing about the university is that it's close to home, it has my program, and I love my teammates!

What is one thing that most people don't know about you?

One thing people don't know about me is I still get a little nervous before every game and that I pray before every game during the playing of the anthem

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

I like to listen to some pump up music to get fired up (there may be some dancing involved)

Who has been the most influential person in your life?

The most influential people in my life would be both my parents. They're always there for me and support me in everything I do. they're my number one fans! Also both my sisters and my brother attended the majority of my games this season and have a large impact on my life. I don't know where I would be without them.

If you could travel to any place in the world where would you go?

If I could travel anywhere in the world I would want to go to Australia.

If you could have dinner with any three people in the world who would it be?

If I could have dinner with any three people in the world I would eat with Rihanna, Mike Richards, and Cam Gigandet
