Men's and Women's Hockey named Brock Teams of the Month
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University Men's and Women's Team of the month for November are the men's and women's hockey teams.
The Brock men's hockey team had a strong month of November collecting 11 out of a possible 16 points in eight games while posting a 4-1-3 record. They posted victories over the No. 2 ranked McGill Redmen in shootout and defeated the No. 10 ranked Concordia Stingers. Their other two victories came against Carleton and UOIT.
In November, the Badgers averaged 3.12 goals per game while allowing 2.50 GAA. They also collected six power play goals. The rookie duo of Matt Abercrombie (Sarnia, Ont.) and Kaine Geldart (Kingston, Ont.) combined for 18 points. Abercrombie, who earned both OUA and CIS Athlete of the Week, recorded 10 points in eight games adding six goals and four assists. Geldart collected four goals and four assists including his first career hat trick versus Concordia.
The Brock women's hockey team continued to roll in November as they went a perfect 7-0 and moved into the CIS National Rankings moving as high as No. 6. Their biggest two wins of the season came on Nov. 7th against No. 7 Windsor Lancers on on Nov. 18th versus No. 5 Guelph Gryphons.
The Badgers averaged 3.71 goals per game while senior goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) was impressive posting a 1.71 GAA with a .935 SV%. Senior captain Kelly Walker (Brampton, Ont.) led the offense registering 14 points in seven games which included five multiple point performances. She also collected her 100th career point versus York on November 28th.
