Women's Hockey falls to Waterloo 2-1

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (4-7-1 OUA) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Waterloo Warriors Saturday night at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

Brock opened the scoring 8:10 into the first period as sophomore defensive pair Courtney Stevens (Ottawa, Ont.) and Melissa Geary (Wasaga Beach, Ont.) setup sophomore Shannon McLeod (Port Dover, Ont.) for her third goal of the season.

Waterloo answered four minutes later at 12:19 on the power play as Caitlin Brydges and Laura Higgins setup Sarah McCorquodale who beat Brock senior goaltender Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) for her second of the season.

After a back and forth defensive game with the shots on goal 24-20 in favour of the Warriors, Caitlin Brydges would break the 1-1 tie 11:32 into the third period for her team leading sixth goal of the campaign and eventual game winner. 

Waterloo goaltender Kahla Stern recorded 19 saves for the victory while Clause registered 22 saves in the loss.

The Badgers next action is Sunday, November 22nd when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road.
