Women's Hockey falls to Toronto and York in weekend series

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (3-5-1 OUA) dropped both games over the weekend losing at home Saturday to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues 5-1 and to the York Lions Sunday on the road by the score of 6-3.

Versus the Varsity Blues at home Saturday, Toronto led 3-0 after two periods outshooting Brock 31-13 over the three periods.

Brock would bring it within two goals 13:45 into the third period as senior Michelle Lee (Innisfil, Ont.) and junior Karolyn McIlmoyle (Newmarket,, Ont.) set up junior Emily Hooper (Hamilton, Ont.) with a power play marker.

The Varsity Blues Lindsay Hill and Alexandra Brind'Amour McClure would answer with back-to-back goals in the final minute including an empty-netter to secure the victory. Hill led all scorers with three-point performance registering two goals and one assist. 

Sunday versus York, the Lions scored four straight goals in the second period as they outshot Brock 49-32 in the game on route to the 6-3 victory.

In the two losses the Badgers were outshot 80-45 with senior goalkeeper Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) registering 69 saves.
