Women's Hockey downs Varsity Blues 5-3
TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (11-13-3 OUA) ended the OUA regular season with a 5-3 victory over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday afternoon at Varsity Arena.
With the victory, the Badgers hold onto the last playoff spot one point ahead of Windsor who has their final game on February 15th against the undefeated Laurier Golden Hawks.
Leading the Badgers offense as sophomore defenseman Maja Samborski (Toronto, Ont.) who recorded her second and third goals of the season including a power play marker and the eventual game winner.
Karolyn McIlmoyle (Newmarket, Ont.), Kristen Dewsbury (Oshawa, Ont.) and Emily Hooper (Burlington, Ont.) and contributed with single markers.
In goal senior Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded 36 saves for the victory. She caps of her fourth season with a single season high 822 saves with a 2.55 GAA and .924 save percentage. In her four year career, Clause has put up some of the best numbers in the OUA having registered 2807 career saves with an impressive 2.27 GAA and .929 SV%.
