Women's Hockey down Lancers 3-1
WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock University women's hockey team (6-10-3 OUA) defeated the Windsor Lancers by the score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon on the road.
Brock opened the scoring 4:35 into the first period as sophomore Hailey Webb (Orillia, Ont.) setup sophomore Kristen Dewsbury (Oshawa, Ont.) for her first goal of the season.
The Badgers would go up 2-0 before the end of the first period as freshman Rachel Piotrowski (Waterloo, Ont.) found senior Maggie Matheson (Kingston, Ont.) who would beat Windsor goaltender Jamie Tessier for her third goal of the campaign.
Junior Karolyn McIlmoyle would give Brock the three goal lead with a power play marker 7:37 into the second period. Sophomore Melissa Geary (Wasaga Beach, Ont.) and junior Emily Hooper (Hamilton, Ont.) would add assists.
In goal senior Beth Clause (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded a game high 36 saves for her sixth victory of the season. Tessier turned aside 25 Brock shots in the loss.
The Badgers next action is Sunday afternoon at 2pm when they travel to London to take on the Western Mustangs in a key divisional matchup.
