No. 5 Ranked Gryphons down Badgers 4-1
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock Women’s Hockey Team
couldn’t keep up with the powerful Gryphons Thursday night in
St. Catharines. Guelph scored 3 goals in a span of 3 minutes and 18
seconds during the second period on their way to a 4-1 defeat of
the Brock Badgers.
The Badgers opened the scoring 39 seconds into the second period as
Maggie Matheson (Kingston, Ont.) would score her second of the
year, assisting on the goal would be Maggie Young (Tiverton, Ont.)
and Lana Norris (Inglewood, Ont.). Less than 5 minutes later Guelph
would even the score as Patricia “Rose” Harris
(Colborne, Ont.) netted her 3rd of the season on a shot that would
just barely make its way through Beth Clause’s legs. Guelph
would later make quick work of a power play scoring just 7 seconds
in as Tayne Hewer (Barrie, Ont.) would score her first of two on
the night. Her second came just 1 minutes and 3 seconds after her
first as Hewer would redirect a point shot from Rachel Driscoll
(Chatham, Ont.) to give the Gryphons a 3-1 lead heading into the
third.
Guelph would quickly put the game out of reach as forward Dayna
Kanis (Georgetown, Ont.) would score 1:24 into the frame. The
Gryphons would hang on for the 4-1 win.
