White and Walker named Henley Honda Brock Athletes of the Week
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University Male and Female
Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 22nd are men's
basketball player Owen White (Port Hope, Ont.) and women's hockey
player Kelly Walker (Brampton, Ont.).
White, a fifth year Philosophy major, ended his university career
with a 22 point performance versus the No. 5 ranked Western
Mustangs. In two games this past week, White averaged 17.0 points
and 7.0 rebounds per game. He finished the 2008-09 OUA season tied
for 15th in conference scoring (15.1 PPG). He was also 8th in
rebounds (7.0 RPG) and 9th in free throw percentage (80.1%)
(113-for-141).
White ended his Brock career ranked 26th all-time in career points
(1178), 15th in career rebounds (625), 3rd in career blocks (79)
and 9th in career free throws made (319).
Walker, a third year Physical Education major, helped lead the
Brock women's hockey team to a 3-1 upset over No. 8 ranked
University of Toronto Varsity Blues registering two goals and one
assist including the game winner.
She finished the 2008-09 regular season ranked 10th in OUA scoring
with a career high 24 points including 12 goals and 12 assists.
