Women's Basketball falls to No. 2 Lancers 91-67
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's basketball team (9-5 OUA West) dropped a 91-67 decision to the No. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers battled with the nationally ranked Lancers for one half as they executed on their up-tempo offense trailing by just six points 47-41 after 20 minutes. In the second half, the Badgers went cold from the field shooting just 26.5% going 9-for-34.
Windsor had four players in double digits led by Bojana Kovacevic who led all scorers with a season high 23 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. Jessica Clemencon contributed with 22 points and 12 boards. Emily Abbott chipped in with 12 points going 4-for-7 from three-point range with Miah- Marie Langlois adding 10 points and six assists in the victory.
Leading the Badgers was junior Jessica Del Signore (Brantford, Ont.) who recorded 14 points going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Hayley Neal (Mississauga, Ont.) contributed with 13 points. Junior Emily McKay (Toronto, Ont.) rounded out the Brock leaders adding 11 points, four rebounds and three assists in the loss.
Windsor shot 50.0% from the field going 35-for-70. The Badgers finished the game shooting 33.8% from the floor (24-for-71). The Lancers outrebounded the Badgers 50-28 giving them 106 rebounds in two games this season versus Brock. In the Badgers five losses, they are averaging just 59.6 points per game while shooting a dismal 32.9% (101-for-307).
The Badgers next action is Wednesday, January 26 at 6:00 pm when they take on the Guelph Gryphons on the road.
