Women's Basketball loses 80-73 OT heartbreaker versus No. 2 Lancers
WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock University women's basketball team (7-3 OUA) lost a heartbreaker 80-73 in overtime against the No. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers.
Windsor held a slim 38-33 lead at halftime before Brock battled
back to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.
In the extra frame, forwards Jessica Clemencon and Raelyn Prince
were the difference as their size in the post proved to be too much
for the much smaller Brock team. Down the stretch, the pair knocked
down their free throws as the Lancers hung on for the victory.
Brock had four players in double figures led by senior Lauren
Stewart (Hamilton, Ont.) who led all scorers with 22 points. Junior
Hillary Woodside (Fall River, NS) recorded 12 points
while senior Whitney Gorges (Welland, Ont.) and Tara Gillonardo
(Fonthill, Ont.) both finished with 11 points each.
For Windsor, Jessica Clemencon led the way with 21 points and 15 rebounds while Raelyn Prince added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Shavaun Reaney chipped in with 13 points and 10 assists.
