Brock women's swimming places 3rd at Stratten Divisional Championships

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University women's swimming team placed third at the Stratten Divisional Championships while the Brock men were seventh.

Delia Caughlin had a strong day, placing first in the 50m Breaststroke in a time of 33.80 to qualify for the CIS Championships. She also finished fourth in the 100m Breaststroke (1:15.11) and sixth in the 200m Breaststroke (2:49.29).

Lisa McCann finished with three sixth place finishes in the 400m Freestyle (4:36.56), 400 Individual Medley (5:15.74) and 200m Individual Medley (2:28.12) and seventh in the 200m Freestyle (2:11.50).

Emily Welham placed sixth in the 50m Breaststroke (36.49) and seventh in the 200m Breaststroke (2:49.95).

Rounding out the Badgers top finishers were Ilana Romanow (5th - 50m Breaststroke - 36.11), Cora Michener (6th - 800m Freestyle - 9:33.20), Laura Perry (7th - 100m Backstroke - 1:07.32 and 8th - 200m Backstroke - 2:24.76), Alana Corrigan (8th in both the 200m Freestyle - 2:11.91 and 100m Backstroke - 1:08.79) and Baylee Colquhoun (8th - 200m Breaststroke - 2:52.17).

In the relays, the Brock women finished with six top six performances, highlighted by a second place finish in the 200m Medley Relay with Perry, Caughlin, Romanow and Erica Dugas finishing in a time of 2:03.14. In the same event, Welham, Watts, Corrigan and Rebecca Nydam placed fifth (2:09.36).

In the 200m Freestyle Relay, Katie So, Dugas, Watts, and McCann placed fifth (1:52.90) with Nydam, Romanow, Courtney Fox and Abigael Layton finishing sixth (1:55.28).

In the 400m Freestyle Relay, So, Corrigan, Michener and McCann finished fifth (4:09.30) and Jillian Bekker, Layton, Fox and Welham placed sixth (4:20.37).

The lone individual top eight finish for the Brock men was Brett Montgomery who placed eighth in the 100m Butterfly (1:01.35).

The relay team of Montgomery, Michael Easson, Alex Ivancic and Andrew Racine placed seventh in the 400m Freestyle Relay (4:02.14).

The University of Western Ontario placed first overall in both the men's and women's standings.
