Caughlin Paces Badger Swimmers at Ontario Cup

Continuing on her improvement curve, Delia Caughlin became the first Badger swimmer in recent memory to win an event at the prestigious annual Ontario Cup, hosted January 20th-22nd at the University of Toronto.

The competition brings together all of Ontario’s top varsity, post-grad, and club swimmers - including numerous Olympians and National team members - for some high level long course racing.

Caughlin blasted the field in the 50 Breaststroke, winning in a senior national qualifying time for her first trip to the podium at such a high level.

She now looks ahead to see if she can duplicate that at the Ontario University Championships coming up in three weeks.

She added placings in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke events also, clocking best times in all three distances.

First-year swimmer Laura Perry added two placings in Backstroke events, with Ilana Romanow adding another.

The Badger swimmers host Laurentian, Waterloo, and Western this coming Saturday, January 28th in a final tune-up for the University Championship season.
