Culp qualifies for CIS swimming championships at Eynon Divisional Championships

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Elenor Misner Aquatic Centre at Brock University hosted the 2010 Eynon Divisional Championships over the weekend.  Senior Victoria Culp (Vineland, Ont.) led a strong Badger contingent while earned herself a spot in the CIS Championships.

Culp earned top five finishes in each of her four races, including fifth in the 200 Free (2:08.22), fourth in the 100 Free (59.52), third in the 400 Free (4:25.96) and second in the 800 Free (9:14.39).   With her placings, Culp now qualifies to represent Brock at the CIS Championships.

Other Badgers earning top six finishes include Katie So (Mississauga, Ont.) who earned a third place finish in the 100 Butterfly (1:06.72) and a sixth place finish in the 50 Butterfly (0:31.13).  Holly Hopkins (Kapuskasing, Ont.) earned a fourth place in the 200 Backstroke (2:24.02) and fifth in the 50 Backstroke (0:31.50).

Emily Welham (Camden East, Ont.) finished fifth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:18.70) and sixth in the 50 Breaststroke (0:37.41), while Lisa McCann (Parkhill, Ont.) finished sixth in the 800 Free (9:35.73) and the 200 IM (2:31.33).  Cora Michener (Toronto, Ont.) earned a fifth place finish in the 800 Free (9:32.18) and Delia Caughlin (St. Catharines, Ont.) placed sixth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:19.23.

For the Brock Men, Eliott Dumitru (Hamilton, Ont.) placed sixth in the 50 Backstroke (30.58), while Frank Woodley (Port. McNicoll, Ont.) finished fifth in the 200 Butterfly (2:22.76)

In relay races the Badger women finished second in the 4x50 Medley relay (2:04.53) and third in the 4x100 Freestyle.

In team competition, the Brock Women finished with 528.5 points, good enough for third place, while the men earned 124 points and finished in fifth.
