Brock Rowing to host BadgerBash at OUA Championships
The Brock University men's and women's rowing teams will host
the 1st Annual BadgerBash Rowing Alumni event on Saturday October
29th, 2011 at the St Catharines Henley Island.
"Brock Rowing has had a "Tradition of Excellence" over its 47-year
history," said Director of Athletics Robert Hilson. "I look forward
to meeting all the rowing alumni this weekend at the OUA
Championships. Since its inception the rowing program has been
teaching student-athletes to be their best, honing their skills of
competition, building champions on the water and training young
individuals to be featured leaders in our community."
Recently, Brock student-athlete Travis King captured a bronze medal
at the Pan American Games and will be in attendance this
weekend.
This year's celebration will be highlighting crews from the 1970's
and 1980's.
The Brock rowing program has a rich tradition of excellence. This
event has been created to celebrate the history and engage the
alumni that all play an important role in the program's continued
success.
"We hope this event each year will gain momentum towards the 2014
season in which Brock Rowing will be celebrating its 50th
Anniversary," said head Peter Somerwil. "We have had a great
response from our alumni for this special event. We would like to
thank all those alumni that have reconnected with their crews and
spread the word in order for this to a successful alumni
gathering."
