Brock rowers have strong performances at Head of the Charles
BOSTON, MASS - The Brock University men's and women's rowing
teams had some strong results at the Head Of The Charles Regatta,
the world's largest two-day rowing event.
The Brock women had two bronze medal performances. The Women's
Championship 4 consisting of Britt Ellis, Jen Vandermaarel, Alicia
Marconi, Julie Dejong and coxie Nikki Morrison placed third overall
finishing in a time of 18:38.51.
The Women's Lightweight 4 made up of Liz Euiler, Nicole McClure,
Maddie Wiseman, Tiffany Rush and coxie Nikki Morrrison also
captured bronze finishing in a time of 19:26.29.
The Men's Lightweight 8 of Ben Cushnie, Brendan Coffey, Dylan
Coletto, Sylas Coletto, Jake Cushnie, Andrew Dowd, Cory Machesney,
Ken Chapman and coxie Kate Dirks placed 6th overall in a final time
of 15:05.72.
The Men's Championship 8 consisting of Keegan Drummond, Eddie
Vaughan, Mike Lewis, Matt Wortley, Mark Alm, Kevin Anstruther, Ian
MacLeod, Tim Schrijver and coxie Sia Dekaneas placed 13th overall
in a time of 14:53.52.
Over the past 46 years, the Head Of The Charles regatta has grown
tremendously. Today, more than 8,000 athletes from around the world
compete in 55 different race events. The Regatta grew to a two-day
event in 1997 and now attracts up to 300,000 spectators during the
October weekend.
