Brock Rowers capture 13 medals at Canada Summer Games
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND - At the 2009 Canada Summer Games
Brock's eight rowers combined for 13 medals including six
golds.
"This was a great overall performance from some of our top rowers
at Brock University," said head coach Peter Somerwil. "Each one of
these athletes worked hard in the summer leading up to the Summer
Games and will all play a big part of our team's overall success
this fall."
For Team Ontario, the Badgers Ben Cushnie (Welland, Ont.), Mike Lewis (Dorchester, Ont.) and Clark Tyler (Mississauga, Ont.) were all part of the Men's Heavyweight 4 gold medal team. Lewis and Tyler were also part of Ontario's Heavyweight 8 silver medal team. Cushnie and Brock newcomer Cory Machesny (Wainfleet, Ont.) were in the Men's Lightweight 4 gold medal winning crew.
For the Ontario women's team, the Badgers Brittany Ellis (St. Catharines, Ont.) was part of the gold medal Women's 8 crew. Stephanie Mowder (St. Catharines, Ont.) captured a silver medal in the Women's 4.
Representing New Brunswick, the Badgers Keegan Drummond (Saint Star, NB) and Greg Theriault (Rothesay, NB) teamed up in the Men's Pair capturing a silver medal. They also had a bronze medal performance in the Men's Heavyweight 8 and placed fourth in the Men's Heavyweight 4.
