MacDonald captures gold at Senior National Championships
FREDERICTON, NB - Former Brock Wrestler and 2004 Olympian Evan MacDonald continued his impressive return as he captured gold in the 74kg weight class at the 2010 Senior Canadian Championships defeating Matt Gentry of the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club in the finals. For his performance, MacDonald was named the Outstanding Male Wrestler.
The Brock senior men also had two silver medal performances with CJ Hudson placing second at 60kg and Steve Snijders falling to Arjan Bhullar (120kg) in the finals for one of his best career finishes.
For the Brock senior women, current Badger Jasmine Mian captured silver at 48kg losing to 2008 Olympic gold medalist Carol Huynh in the finals. At 51kg, Diana Ford captured bronze while rookie Natasha Chang finished fourth overall at 59kg. Former Badger Alana King placed third overall at 48kg.
At the junior National Championships, Brock's Jake Hergenhein captured gold at 55kg while earning Outstanding Male Wrestler honours. Michio Clark finished fourth overall at 50kg.
For the Brock women, Jade Parsons placed second overall at 51kg. Melissa Sorrell captured bronze at 67kg while Stephanie Riopel rounded out the Badgers top finishers placing fourth at 51kg.
