Men's Wrestling captures McMaster Invitational title, Women place 4th

HAMILTON, Ont. -  The Brock University men's and women's wrestling team competed at the 2009 McMaster Invitational Saturday. The men's team placed first overall while the women were fourth.

For the men, Brock had one gold, one silver and two third place finishes. At 57kg Jake Hergenhein dominated the 57kg weight class posting a 4-0 record winning 15-3 in the final over Team Impact's Gildo Domingos. Chris Laverick posted a 3-1 record finishing second at 76kg losing to Dene Ringuette from U of Toronto in the finals. Michio Clark (54kg) and Jake Needham (65kg) both placed third in their weight class.

The Brock women had three top three finishes with one gold and two silver. Alana King posted a perfect 4-0 record at 51kg to capture gold defeating teammate Jade Parson in the finals. Deb Jehu finished second overall at 67kg losing to Concordia's Lis Williams in the final by pinfall.
