Men's Soccer falls to UOIT Ridgebacks 4-2
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (0-1-0 OUA) dropped a 4-2 decision to the UOIT Ridgebacks in the 2010 regular season opener Saturday afternoon at home. UOIT made school history winning their first game in their inaugural season in OUA men's soccer.
In the opening half, Brock had a number of good scoring opportunities but could not answer. With less than a minute left in the half, UOIT's Luke St. John scored the program's first goal off a rebound to give the Ridgebacks a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes.
In the second half, UOIT took a 2-0 lead at 54:06 when Tochukwu Obikili headed a cross over top of Brock freshman goalkeeper Stefan Avramovic (Stoney Creek, Ont.).
Brock freshman, Kosta Krajisnik (Niagara Falls, Ont.) would make it a one goal game at 81:04 as he blasted a free kick past Ridgeback keeper Oliver Lietz for his first of the season. Just over a minute later, UOIT would regain their two goal lead as Paul Craven answered on a free kick after freezing Avramovic.
Brock's Krajisnik would get his second goal of the game at 85:38 answering off a cross from freshman Marco Mascetelli to make it 3-2.
With just over a minute left in regulation. UOIT forward Justin Gordon would get his first of the season after using his speed and catching Avramovic out of position to secure the victory for the Ridgebacks.

Notes:
Brock junior starter Ryan Toale (Brampton, Ont.) looked strong in the first half before splitting time with rookie Avramovic... the Badgers were without junior Daniel Baldassarro (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and senior George Chondronikolas (Mississauga, Ont.) who are currently on the DL.
