Men's Soccer rolls past Centennial College 7-0

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team improved their preseason record to 2-0 as they rolled past the Centennial Colts by the score of 7-0 Saturday afternoon at home.

Brock controlled the mismatch Colts the majority of the game. Much like the Niagara game, head coach Bill Millar was able to evaluate each players performance in their final weekend before selecting the 2010 roster.

"Things are starting to come together said assistant coach Michael Folino. "We are a much deeper team than last season and have some players up front that can score to go along with our strong veteran defense."

Senior George Chondronikolas (Mississauga, Ont.) opened the scoring at the 15 minute mark burying a free kick around a wall and into the bottom right hand. Freshman striker Kosta Krajisnik (Niagara Falls, Ont.) added his first goal of the preseason in the 22nd minute putting Brock up 2-0. Sophomore midfielder Adrian Cammelli (Niagara Falls, Ont.) would then give Brock a three goal lead at the 30 minute mark burying a cross from junior Myles Denomme. Freshman striker Pedro Baros (Brazil) then answered with back-to-back markers in the 38th and 40th minutes for his second and third of the preseason

In the second half, the Badgers would add two more goals from junior Nick Ianiri (Hamilton, Ont.) and redshirt freshman Erik Van Wissen in the 58th and 70th minutes. In two preseason games, the Badgers have outscored their opponents 11-0.

The Badgers will close out the preseason tomorrow when they host the Sheridan College Bruins. Brock opens the 2010 Ontario University Athletics regular season next Saturday, September 4th when they host the UOIT Ridgebacks at 1:00pm. This will be UOIT's first season in OUA men's soccer.
