Men's Soccer blanked by No. 5 ranked Lions

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (1-6-1 OUA) dropped their fifth straight as they dropped a 2-0 decision against the No. 5 ranked York Lions at home Sunday afternoon.

The young Badgers squad battled hard for the entire 90 minutes, but it was the talented York team coming out on top as they answered with two goals six minutes apart midway through the second half.

In the 62nd minute, midfielder Phil Rivers would connect with a header of a corner kick from Adrian Pena to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, sweeper Franco Ruscetta would bury a rebound off a free kick to put York up 2-0.

York would outshoot the Badgers 20-5 in the contest and 37-10 in two games this season.

In goal, sophomore Ryan Toale recorded 10 saves in the loss while York's Alim Karim registered two saves in the shutout victory.
