Men's Soccer shocks No. 1 ranked Lions

TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock University men's soccer team (1-0 OUA) knocked off the No. 1 ranked and defending CIS National Champion York Lions by the score of 1-0 Saturday afternoon on the road.

Brock spent the majority of the game on the defensive side but played a strong disciplined game with a total team effort.

Junior forward George Chondronikolas (Mississauga, Ont.) took advantage of a York defensive error in the 62nd and capitalized beating the York netminder for the game winner.

"We are very proud of the guys," said head coach Bill Millar, who opened his 25th season at the helm with a huge victory. "We knew it would would be a tough game to open the season, but through a team effort we worked hard the entire game defensively and took advantage of one York error. Not many teams will walk into York and beat them at home. This is a great victory for our program, but we have to regroup right away and get ready for Guelph tomorrow on the road."

Brock junior netminder Judon Gregory (Mississauga, Ont.) recorded eight saves for his first career shutout.
