Men's Rugby downs Golden Hawks 24-18
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's rugby team (5-1 OUA) won for the fifth consecutive game as they defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks by the score of 24-18 at home Wednesday afternoon.
The Badgers trailed 10-8 after 40 minutes with the lone first half try from Eric Inward. In the second half, Brock would get trys from Adrian Lui, Tom Clancy and Matt Alexander who used his speed to run by the Laurier defense and dive on the ball in the end zone for his team leading fourth try of the season.
Brock leading scorer Rory McDonell would connect on two converts before being replaced by brother Hugh McDonell. Rory ranks third in the OUA with 51 points.
Laurier would look to answer in the final seven minutes but it was the tough Badgers team defense stepping up their game. In six games this season, the Badgers defense have allowed just 12 points a game which ranks third in the OUA.
The Badgers next home action is October 18th at 1:00pm when they battle the first place Queen's Golden Gaels (6-0).
