Clancy receives OUA most all-around player, Badgers have 5 All-Stars
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Brock University men’s rugby team, who will play for the OUA bronze this Saturday at Fletcher’s Field, have had five players selected to the 2009 OUA All-Star Team.
Leading the Brock all-star selections is senior captain Tom Clancy (Lindsay, Ont.) who also became the sixth Brock player in the past seven years to receive the OUA most all-around player award. The fifth-year 8 man, who scored two tries for 10 points, has taken a great leadership role, both on and off the field. He is a strong defender and is able to motivate his teammates.
Rory McDonell (Brantford, Ont.) was selected as an OUA All-Star for his third straight season after finishing second in OUA scoring with 74 points. McDonell, the 2007 rookie of the year, scored 25 converts in seven games to lead the team in points. In three seasons, McDonell has recorded 210 points with four tries, 65 converts and 20 penalty goals.
Other Badgers receiving all-star status are Andrew Cowper (Uxbridge, Ont.), Hugh McDonell (Brantford, Ont.) and Sam Rimmer (Cheltenham, England).
