Men's Lacrosse rolls past Western 9-4, Advances to CUFLA semi-finals

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's lacrosse team opened the 2009 CUFLA playoffs with a 9-4 victory over their rival Western Mustangs Saturday afternoon at home. The Badgers now advance to the CUFLA semi-finals next weekend.

The Badgers strong defense stiffled the Mustangs offense as they scored only one goal in the entire second half. Brock led 4-3 at the half and scored four straight in the second half to lead 8-3 late in the fourth quarter.

Brock used a balanced offense as six players recorded two points each including Matt Evans with two goals and Chris Nash, Devin Sartor, Todd Duncan, Jordan Weedmark, and Mike McLeod.

In three games this season the Mustangs have been aggressive on the stick check calls against the Badgers asking for 12 which has cost them on the offensive side registering just one goal every 20 minutes in the second half for a total of six.
