Brock Men's Hockey adds three to coaching staff
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men’s hockey team will have a distinct new look this upcoming season. The team may have as many as twelve freshmen in the lineup, but will also have three new assistant coaches behind the bench.
Joining the Badgers’ head coach Murray Nystrom will be former Fort Erie Meteors coach Yvan Charrois.
“Yvan’s experience at the junior level will be a great benefit for our team. His enthusiasm and ability to maximize his players’ talents will help us move towards a return to the post season,” Nystrom said.
Charrois coached the Meteors during the last two seasons and sees the opportunity to coach at the university level as a new challenge.
“Coaching a Brock University is a great opportunity,” said Charrois. “I am looking forward to working with the staff and players, with the goal of bringing a championship to Brock.”
Also joining the Brock staff is Thorold resident Garry Miotto, who spent last season on the staff of the Welland Junior Canadians and Mike MacDonald, a Niagara Falls resident and former junior B player who will add support with video.
The new coaches join Nystrom, who is beginning his 13th season at Brock along with fourth year assistant coach Jeff Corey and second year assistant Rob Meecham.
The Badgers begin the 2010-2011 season on September 16-19, 2010 when they host the 12th annual Steel Blade Tournament at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
