No. 7 Thunderwolves put an end to No. 6 Badgers winning streak

THUNDER BAY, Ont. -  The No. 6 ranked Brock University men's hockey team (4-1-0-0) suffered their first lost of the 2009-2010 campaign at the hands of the No. 7 ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves (4-0-1-0). Brock will be facing Lakehead in back to back matches in Fort Williams Gardens.

Mark Yetman (Mt. Pearl, NL) was tested early, as the Thunderwolves out shot the Badgers 11 to 6 in the first period. Despite having to kill off two power plays, Yetman and the Badgers emerged from the first period in a scoreless tie.

Midway through the second period Lakehead managed to solve Yetman as the Thunderwolves leading scorer Brock McPerson (Brampton, ON) buried the opening goal. Just 1:42 later, freshman Victor Anilane (Gothenburg, Sweden) put Thunderwolves up 2-0. Adam Sergerie (Thunder Bay, ON) added a third tally just sixty-one seconds later, to grab a commanding 3-0 lead.

Lakehead goaltender, Kyle Moir (Calgary, AB) was able to outlast a renewed effort by the Badgers in the third period ensuring the win. Anilane added a second goal to make it a 4-0 lead.

The Brock Badgers will return to the Seymour Hannah Centre on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 7:35 p.m. for back-to-back games against the University of Windsor.
