Gryphons blank Badgers 9-0

GUELPH, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (9-14-1 OUA) continued to have trouble against the Guelph Gryphons in 2010 as they dropped a 9-0 decision Thursday night on the the road.

Guelph excelled in the special teams category going 4-for-7 with the man advantage and added one short handed goal, their third in the past two games versus Brock. The Badgers were 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Gryphons had nine different goal scorers in the game. They were led by Thomas Kiriakou (1G, 3A), Nathan Martine (1G, 2A), Timothy Priamo (1G, 2A), Edward Gale (1G, 1A), Michael Nelson (1G, 1A) and Matt Lyall (2A), all who had multiple-point performances.

In goal, Brock freshman Jordan Bent recorded 24 saves in the loss. Guelph's Scott VanBomell turned aside all 18 shots for the shutout.

The Badgers next action is Friday, January 29th at 7:30pm when they take on the Waterloo Warriors on the road.
