Men's Hockey falls to York 2-1 in shootout

TORONTO - The Brock University men's hockey team (8-11-1 OUA) lost for their third straight time in the new year dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the York Lions Thursday night at the Canlan Ice Sports.

Brock opened the scoring with 51 seconds left in the second period as Scott Duncan (Ancaster, Ont.) setup Steve Mullin (Guelph, Ont.) for his eighth goal of the season.

Brock would hold onto the 1-0 lead until 36 seconds left in regulation when York captain Tyler Harrison would spoil Mark Yetman's shutout adding his sixth goal of the campaign sending it to overtime.

In overtime York outshot the Badgers 5-0 but it was Yetman coming up with a couple key saves sending it to the shootout.

In the shootout, Ryan Allen (Fort McMurray, AB) would be the lone Badger to score. York would answer with goals from Jesse Grespen and Nathaniel Brooks for the victory.

In goal, Yetman turned aside 30 York shots in the loss while David Davenport recorded 21 saves for the victory.

The Badgers next action is Friday night when they are on the road against the Laurier Golden Hawks.
