Four goal third leads Ryerson over Badgers 5-2
TORONTO, Ont. - The Brock University men's hockey team (6-6-0 OUA) dropped a 5-2 decision to the Ryerson Rams (6-6-1) Thursday night on the road.
Ryerson opened the scoring 8:38 into the first period as Marcus Booth beat Brock freshman netminder Mark Yetman (Mount Pearl, NL) for his third of the season.
Brock answered back to tie the game 13:39 into the second period as third year Steve Mullin (Guelph, Ont.) recorded his fourth of the season with juniors Gary Friesen (Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) and Scott Duncan (Ancaster, Ont.) adding assists.
In the third period, the Badgers would take a 2-1 lead at 2:30 when junior Vince Scott (Mississauga, Ont.) set up junior Ryan Allen (Fort McMurray, Alb.) for his first goal of the season.
For the final 17 minutes it was all Ryerson as they recorded four unanswered goals on route to the 5-2 victory.
Six minutes into the third period, Ryerson would tie the game 2-2 as Booth and Andrew Buck setup Josh McNair for his fourth of the campaign. 25 seconds later at 6:25, Kevin Krasnowski setup Brent Small for his fifth goal and the eventual game winner.l
The Rams would add two more insurance goals late in the third period. Small and Krasnowski found Greg Payne at 15:49 for his first goal of the year. Less than a minute later, Alex Sharpe would add his first goal with Cory Konecny picking up the lone assist.
In goal, Ryerson's Louie George recorded 27 saves for the victory while Yetman added 24 saves on 29 shots in a losing cause.
The Badgers next action is Saturday, November 21st at 7:35 pm when they travel to Toronto to take on the UofT Varsity Blues. They return home next weekend November 27th & 28th at 7:35pm when they host Laurier and York at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
