Brock women's golf places 4th at OUA Championships, Men 8th

KINGSTON, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's golf teams competed at the 2011 Subway OUA Golf Championships hosted by Queen's University at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. The Brock women placed fourth overall and the men were eighth.

After shooting 80 on Day One at the OUA Championships and sitting in second place, the Badgers Kristine Littlefield dropped to sixth place overall finishing with a two-round total of 163. Lisa Romanin finished tied for 16th place with a two-day total of 176 (92-84). Rounding out the Badgers top scorers were Amy Mikula who tied for 18th place 179 (94-85) and Kristi Demeester who was 31st overall 205 (110-95).

The top three women's team finishers were Waterloo (251+235=486), Western (255+249=504) and Guelph (250+255=505). Winning the individual OUA women's title was Meaghan Pototschnik who shot a two-round total of 159 (82-77).

Leading the way for the Brock men's team was Jack Gibson who finished tied for 12th overall with a two-round total of 151 (76-75). Brett Mitchell finished one stroke behind Gibson and finished tied for 17th with an overall score of 152 (78-64). Jonathan Ross had two identical rounds of 77 finishing the championships tied for 26th. Rounding out the Badgers top five, were Kari Rikkonen who placed 54th overall 166 (85-81) and Miles Thomson who was 64th place 170 (82-88).

The top three men's team finishers were Waterloo (305+289=594), Queen's (300+300=600) and Western (301+300=601). Winning the individual OUA men's title was Garrett Rank who shot a two-round total of 142 (74-68).
