Men's Basketball falls to Varsity Blues 68-62
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (1-4 OUA, 4-9 overall) lost their fourth straight dropping a 68-62 decision to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Friday night.
Brock led 62-59 with three minutes left in regulation before going cold from the field missing their final six shots. Toronto answered with a 9-0 run to close out the game improving their conference record to 3-2.
The Varsity Blues would tie the game 62-62 on a three-pointer from Nick Magalas with 2:04 remaining. After three straight missed shots by the Badgers, Patrick Sewell would knock down a jumper to give Toronto a 64-62 lead with 47 seconds left. After a Brock turnover on the next possession, Toronto's Nick Snow would knock down a shot with 15 seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Brock had four players record double figures led by sophomore Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) who recorded 14 points and five rebounds. Freshman Clinton-Springer Williams (London, Ont.) and sophomore Joel Whitty (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 13 points each while rookie Brian Nahimana (London, Ont.) was one rebound shy of a double-double adding 10 points and nine boards in the loss.
Leading the Varsity Blues were Anthony DeGiorgio and Magalas who recorded 15 points each. Also in double figures was Snow who added 10 points and seven rebounds. Drazen Glisic dominated the boards finishing with a nine points and a season high 17 rebounds.
The Badgers next action is Saturday, November 21st at 4pm when they host the Ryerson Rams at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
