Men's Basketball drops 86-83 decision to Wesmen
WATERLOO - The Brock University men's basketball team (0-0 OUA, 0-3 Overall) dropped an 86-83 decision to the Winnipeg Wesmen in their second game at the Laurier Invitational Tournament.
The young Badgers squad once again found themselves down in double figures early in the fourth quarter as they trailed 75-64 with 7:45 remaining in the game. Brock would go on an 11-2 run over the next five minutes to bring the game within two points 77-75.
Winnipeg would answer right back with two baskets to regain a six point lead 81-75 but the Badgers would not go away tying it 81-81 with 51 seconds left in regulation.
Brock was never able to get the lead in the fourth quarter as Winnipeg scored the next four points leading 85-81 with 20 seconds left.
With the score 86-83 in favour of the Wesmen, Brock rookie Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) would miss a three-pointer to tie the game in the dying seconds.
Leading the Wesmen was Eric Zimmerman who led all scorers with 29 points. Also in double figures for Winnipeg was Peter Lomuro with 18 points and N. Glasson-Lother and Adam Dobriansky who chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively.
For the Badgers, Springer-Williams added 28 points going 12-for-21 from the field while sophomore Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) finished with 20 points in the loss.
The Badgers return home and will play four non-conference games at the Bob Davis Gymnasium prior to the start of the OUA regular season on November 6th.
