Men's Basketball falls to Golden Hawks 75-58

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (6-9 OUA West) dropped a 75-58 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks in front of over 700 in attendance at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Wednesday night.

The Badgers found themselves down early as Laurier led 26-16 after one quarter of play and trailed by 15 at the half 43-28. Brock would close the gap to 11 points, 60-49, after 30 minutes, before Laurier would go on a 9-1 run in the first four minutes of the fourth to take a commanding 19 point lead which Brock could never recover from.

Leading the Golden Hawks was Kale Harrison who recorded 26 points and six rebounds. Jesse MacDonald contributed with 19 points while Max Allin chipped in with 12 points in the victory. MacDonald added 15 of his 19 in the first half while Harrison registered 15 of his 26 in the second.

The lone spark for the Badgers was freshman Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) who led all scorers with a game high 27 points and seven rebounds. He continues to lead all rookies in CIS Scoring averaging 20.4 points per game. He has reached double digits in 25 of 26 games this season including 16 with 20+ points.

The remainder of the Brock starters combined for 22 points while going a dismal 8-for-30 (26.6%) from the field.

The Badgers next action is Saturday, January 30th when they travel to Guelph to take on the last place Gryphons. Brock returns home February 3rd at 8pm when they play host to the Western Mustangs.
