Men's Basketball defeats Waterloo 76-63


ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-5 OUA West) defeated the Waterloo Warriors by the score of 76-63 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Wednesday Night. Prior to the game Brock head coach Ken Murray was honoured as he became just the third coach in CIS history to coach in 1000 career games.

Brock led by four points at the half 36-32. With 6:38 remaining in regulation, Brock led by just two 58-56 before going on a 10-2 run over the next two minutes to go up 68-58 with 4:38 left. Waterloo would bring it to within five points 68-63 but it was the Badgers pulling away in the final two minutes ending the game with a 9-0 run to secure the victory. Brock's defense was stellar in the final frame allowing 13 Waterloo points including just five in the final five minutes of the contest.

Brock had three players in double figures led by freshman standout Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) who recorded 20 points and five rebounds. Senior Mike Cruickshank (Toronto, Ont.) registered 16 points including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and sophomore Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 14 points and six rebounds. Freshman Anto Raic (Welland, Ont.) played a key role off the bench finishing with nine points and career high 10 rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Raic was also 3-4 from three-point land.

For Waterloo Cam McIntyre recorded a game high 28 points. Former Badger Jesse Tipping was held to zero points going 0-for-6 from the field.

The Badgers next action is this Saturday when they travel to Windsor to on the second place Lancers.
