Badgers fall to No. 1 Ravens 80-63

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (1-1 OUA, 4-6 overall) dropped an 80-63 decision to the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens in front of 750 fans at the Bob Davis Gymnasium Saturday night.

Brock trailed by four at  the half 35-31. After a Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) jumper to open the third quarter, the Ravens would then go on a 10-2 run over the next three minutes to take a commanding 45-33 lead and never looking back.

Carleton used a balanced offense as five players recorded nine or more points in the victory. Leading the Ravens was Elliot Thompson who recorded 18 points, six rebounds and four assists. Freshman Tyson Hinz added 15 points including going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Senior Kevin McCleery was one rebound shy of a double-double registering 13 points and nine rebounds.

Junior Cole Hobin contributed with nine points, eight rebounds and four steals while senior Michael Kenny rounded out the Ravens leaders knocking down three treys for nine points. 

Leading the Badgers was Springer-Williams who led all scorers with 22 points. He also pulled down 12 boards for his second double-double of the season. Also in double figures were sophomores Mark Gibson (Toronto, Ont.) and Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) who added 15 and 11 points respectively.

The Badgers next OUA action is next weekend November 13th and 14th when they travel to Laurentian and York. They return home to the Bob Davis Gymnasium the following weekend November 20th & 21st when they host Toronto and Ryerson.
