Men's Basketball drops 96-89 decision to Voyageurs

SUDBURY, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-7 overall, 1-2 overall) dropped a 96-89 decision to the Laurentian Voyageurs Friday night on the road. The Badgers were without 2008-09 CIS Rookie of the Year Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.). 

Laurentian had three players in double figures led by the brother tandem of Isiah and Manny Pasquale who combined for 44 points including going 9-for-13 (69.2%) from beyond the arc. Matas Tirillis registered a double-double adding 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Leading the Badgers was freshman Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) who recorded a game high 32 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Sophomore Joel Whitty (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 20 points including five three-pointers while collecting five assists.

Laurentian shot 49.3% (33-for-67) from the field which included shooting 50.0% (12-for-24) from beyond the arc. The Voyageurs had a chance to put the Badgers away early but struggled from the charity stripe down the stretch going just 18-for-38 (47.4%). 

Brock shot 42.4% (28-for-66) from the field while going 10-for-25 (40.0%) from three-point land. They were also 23-for-28 (82.1%) from the charity stripe.
