Brock Curling finishes first and second at Brock Invitational Bonspiel
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's curling team had a strong showing at the 2nd Annual Brock Invitational Bonspiel.
The Brock women finished first overall with a 4-1-0 record. The Badgers posted victories over Guelph (5-4), Waterloo (7-2), McMaster (8-3) and Laurier JV (6-2). Their lone loss came against Trent (6-5). The Brock women's roster includes Jessica Corrado (Etobicoke, Ont.), Joanne Curtis (Brampton, Ont.), Lauren Wasylkiw (Kleinburg, Ont.), Erin Duffy (Dundas, Ont.), Erin Macaulay (Whitby, Ont.) and Jordan Brandwood (Beamsville, Ont.).
The Brock men were second overall with a 3-1-1 record. Waterloo finished first with a perfect 5-0 record. Brock recorded wins over Trent (9-4), Laurier (7-5) and Laurier JV (7-4). They tied Guelph 10-10 and dropped an 8-5 decision to Waterloo. The Brock men's roster includes Scott Brandon (Midland, Ont.), Michael Idzenga (St. Catharines, Ont.), Kevin Mailloux (Mississauga, Ont.), Richard Roessner (St. Catharines, Ont.) and Blake Sandham (St. Catharines, Ont.).
In a final tune up for OUA's in February, both Brock Varsity teams will be curling in the Wilfrid Laurier Exhibition Bonspiel February 4th and 5th. The Brock Jr. Varsity Women's Team has also been invited to participate in this event.
