Jeff Lounsbury enters his 15th year as the head coach of the Brock
Badgers baseball team, his 16th overall.
At the reign Lounsbury has recorded an impressive 322-164-4 overall record (.657 winning percentage) which also includes two CIBA National Championships (1998, 1999), two OUA Championships (2002, 2004), three Ontario West crowns, seven CIBA Championship appearances, three OUA regular season titles and nine consecutive 20 plus win seasons.
In 2004 he led the Badgers to a 25-13-2 overall record and
their
second OUA Championship title in four years defeating in
conference rival University of Toronto Varsity Blues in three
games.
Over his first nine seasons as head coach he has averaged an impressive 27 victories per season. In 2003 he recorded collegiate career victory number 200 with a 2-0 shut-out victory over York University (9/13). He has more Canadian collegiate victories than any other coach at the university level in Canada.
In 1998 and 1999 Lounsbury powered Brock to back-to-back National Championships. The two consecutive titles make Brock and Laval the only schools in CIBA history to claim consectuive championships. In five years competition at the National Championships, Coach Lounsbury has guided Brock to an 11-5 record. In 2002 Brock won their first-ever OUA Championship, in their second season as a varsity sport.
Coach Lounsbury began as the third base / infield coach in the program’s first season, 1995, prior to being named head coach the following year. He began coaching as an assistant with the Niagara District Youth team and NIagara Falls Midget A All-Stars.
In 1997 he was the Head Coach of the Ontario Connie Mack’s Welland Renegades, posting a 38-22 record. In 1999 through 2000 he served as Head Coach of the Hamilton Cardinals of the Senior Intercounty Baseball League, guiding them to a 31-39 overall record making the playoffs both seasons.
Lounsbury has also been an instructor at the Canadian Baseball Academy, Can-Am Instructional Clinic and Brock University’s Developmental Clinics. Coach Lounsbury has also participated in the Toronto Blue Jays Coaching Development Program.
In 2003, Lounsbury was named Assistant Coach to the Canadian Student National Baseball team, which participated in a six-game Friendship Series with the United States National Team and the FISU II World University Baseball Championships held in Taiwan. Coach Lounsbury was selected after a national search.
He resides in Niagara Falls with his two children Rachel and Tyler and his girlfriend Mary.
